Sept 14 (Askume) – Norway’s Jakob Ingebritsen will make his half marathon debut in Copenhagen on Sunday, two days after winning the 1,500 metres title at the Diamond League final in Brussels on Friday night.

The 21km race will cap a stellar season for the 23-year-old, who won Olympic gold in the 5000m in Paris.

Organisers of the Copenhagen Half Marathon announced the news on their website on Saturday.

“I’m looking forward to testing myself in my first half marathon in Copenhagen,” Ingebritsen told the website. “Normally this distance is ideal for my training, but after training for so long on a 1500m track I’m excited to see if I can get to the finish line.”

After winning her third consecutive Diamond League 1500m final, Ingebritsen hinted at the news with a cryptic post on Instagram, writing: “What a great way to end the season… or?”

The Norwegian is a two-time Olympic champion, winning the 1500m gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Ingebritsen will be tested against world record holder Jacob Kiplimo and world champion Sebastian Sawai.
