LONDON, Sept 14 (Askume) – Crystal Palace player Jean-Philippe Mata scored twice in the final seconds of Crystal Palace’s second Premier League match against newly promoted Leicester City at Selhurst Park on Saturday, including a penalty that helped them come back from two goals down.

The result was a relief for Crystal Palace, who were sent off at half-time, but both teams are now looking for a first win of the season with two points each after four games.

Leicester looked set to take all the points after goals from Jamie Vardy and Steffi Mavididi after the break.

But Mata scored for Palace with a header from Tyree Mitchell’s low cross in the 47th minute. He was flagged for offside but the goal was disallowed after a lengthy VAR check.

The home side got some relief in the 92nd minute and equalised when Matata was awarded a penalty for a foul on Conor Coady.

Vardy scored Leicester’s first goal in the 21st minute when Wilfred Ndidi’s ball hit Dean Henderson on goal. The 37-year-old Vardy beat defenders Marc Gueye and Henderson to put the ball into an empty net.

The visitors had another chance before half-time but Gay missed a clearance. Vardy passed the ball to Mavididi on the left wing but the shot went wide.

However, Mavididi doubled Leicester’s lead in the second half with a power-play goal in the 19th after Nathaniel Clyne’s clearance error.

The goal brought Palace to life and Matata scored a minute later. But it was not until Coady brought down substitute Ismaila Sarr in the penalty area in stoppage time and Mateta sent Mads Hermansson the wrong way from the penalty spot that the hosts could equalise.
