MADRID, Sept 14 (Askume) – Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone said on Saturday his team is still in the process of improving and going through a transition period with the arrival of new players.

After spending more than 200 million euros ($221.52 million) to strengthen the squad with players such as Julian Alvarez, Conor Gallagher and Robin Le Normand , Atletico Madrid has won four games and drawn two games.

Simon said the team is moving in the right direction and he is not worried about fluctuations in results.

After a two-week international break, Atletico are fourth in the La Liga standings, four points behind top-placed Barcelona and equal on eight points with Real Madrid.

“We face a difficult challenge in La Liga, especially at the beginning of the season, until our team finds its rhythm and form,” Simeone said at a news conference ahead of Sunday’s trip to Valencia. “Goals were scored.

“We have a lot of new players joining our team, which hasn’t happened in the last two seasons. But I won’t change my goals and I still hope for the best results.”

“It would have been nice if the new players were here, but obviously the national team has called and everybody has to go away for two weeks.

“Our job here is to make them feel at home as quickly as possible so they can settle in and perform at the level we want them to,” he said.

Simeone said too many players is a good problem to have and he is not worried about selecting the starting 11 as he will make adjustments to the lineup during the busy schedule, which includes seven games between the next three La Liga and Champions League games.

“I see a lot of enthusiasm in the squad, they all want to play and earn a place in the team and are working hard to do so,” Simeone said.

“It is difficult to choose who will play but because of the number of games coming up I have new players coming in who are full of energy and will.

“I like to think game by game and that won’t take me away from Valencia. Yes, we have new players but I won’t change this mentality and our goals, our goals will still be to get the best results in the game.
