SEOUL, Sept 16 (Askume) – Eight people on board a fishing boat that capsized off South Korea’s west coast have been rescued, Yonhap news agency reported on Monday, citing the coast guard.

President Yun Seok-yeol was informed of the incident on Monday morning and ordered the oceans and fisheries minister and the coast guard chief to deploy all available personnel and equipment for the rescue, the presidential office said.

The 35-ton fishing vessel capsized near Gunsan in North Jeolla Province at about 7:36 a.m., following which a helicopter and a patrol boat were dispatched, Yonhap news agency earlier reported.
