Sept 16 (Askume) – The U.S. State Department said on Monday it had approved the sale of potential military parts worth about $228 million to Taiwan, which Taiwan’s military said would put it in a gray zone with China and help sustain war. Prepare to enter.

The parts will be recovered, repaired and resold using US government stockpiles, the State Department said in a statement. It also said the Taiwan military would have no difficulty in incorporating these equipment into its armed forces.

Despite lacking formal relations with Taiwan , the United States is Taiwan’s most important supporter and arms supplier.

Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense expressed gratitude for the arms sale plan and said it expected the plan to become “effective” within a month.

“The Chinese Communist Party’s regular incursions into the gray zone limit training space and response time in our air and maritime domains,” the statement said.

“The repair and return of aircraft parts agreed to be sold by the United States will help maintain the combat readiness and safety of a variety of Air Force aircraft equipment.”

China considers democratically governed Taiwan as its territory and has increased military and political pressure over the past five years to back up its claims, which Taipei strongly rejects.

China is escalating grey zone warfare and using tactics to pressure Taiwan’s military ahead of actual war, including regular coast guard patrols near what China sees as the Taiwan-controlled Kinmen islands.
