Sept 15 (Askume) – Adani Power (ADAN.NS) and Adani Green Energy (ADNA.NS) have won a joint bid to provide 6,600 megawatts of renewable and thermal power to the state of Maharashtra for 25 years.

    Adani Green Energy’s wind and solar power plant in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan will supply green energy to Maharashtra’s capital Mumbai from March 2023.

    The new agreement will see Adani Green Energy and Adani Power expand their presence in Maharashtra.

    Under the bid, Adani Green Energy will provide 5,000 MW of solar power through its renewable energy park at Kafra in Kutch district of Gujarat, and Adani Power will provide 1,600 MW of thermal power through a new plant.

    Adani Power said in a statement that Maharashtra Electricity Distribution Company has issued a letter of intent to award the contract to Adani Power and will sign separate agreements with the two companies for their respective power supplies.

    According to state estimates , Maharashtra’s electricity consumption is expected to reach 200 TWh by 2028, of which 32% is expected to come from renewable energy sources.
