What better way to spend your first Paris Fashion Week than at the Balenciaga show? WNBA star Cameron Brink’s surprise engagement added to the excitement. “I’m absolutely shocked. He did an amazing job! It was perfect and a surprise. I’m so excited to marry my best friend,” Brink told Eskom about her unexpected engagement to Ben Fields. “Talk about a dream trip! Paris itself was magical, I went to my first fashion week show and got engaged! Still on cloud nine.
For her first fashion show, Brink wanted to wear looks that suited her masculine and feminine personal style. “My love for fashion and basketball helped me recognize both sides of myself,” she said. “As I got older, I realized the best solution was to step away from basketball and dress more feminine.” Coat from the Fall 2024 collection at the show. “I love it because it expresses an attitude,” she said. “I wanted my first Paris Fashion Week to be memorable and true to me, and this is exactly that.”
The fashion-filled trip to Paris was a welcome change of pace for the newbie, who is more accustomed to preparing for competitions than shows. “When I’m preparing for a game, I get very meditative and I don’t like to listen to a lot of music—I usually prepare alone and have a routine of food, light makeup, and game visualization before the game,” she says. While the fashion world is still new, Brink declares, “I love my hair and makeup team—the conversations, listening to music, and laughing are definitely the best parts.”
