Gwyneth Paltrow knows a thing or two about fashion. Paltrow has had a 35-year career as an actress and her outfits have always caught people’s attention. Her looks have achieved iconic status, from Margot Tenenbaum’s fur coat and striped polo dress to the Tom Ford-era red velvet suit she wore to the 1996 MTV VMAs – an outfit so beloved of the honoree that she even cited it in 2021.
A fascination with ’90s fashion has been on the mind for the past few years, and it’s impossible to look back on that decade without showing some affection for Paltrow’s style. While she was a fan of period-appropriate sheath slips, she also wore more ornate pieces, such as a black dress embroidered with yellow flowers for the 1998 premiere of “A Perfect Murder.”
Paltrow’s fashion clout has helped her leverage her own clothing line, G. Label, which sells her now-signature rich mom style: cashmere sweaters, perfectly tailored jeans, leather flats and more, all at luxury prices. A recent moment that unexpectedly highlighted her impeccable taste was her ski crash trial in Park City, Utah. Paltrow is being sued for $300,000 after a retired optometrist claimed Paltrow hit him while skiing at Deer Valley Resort. The verdict is still out.
Whether we’re looking at Paltrow’s outfit at the 2002 Venice Film Festival or her street style in Paris earlier this week, Gwyneth Paltrow is on our mood boards no matter what decade she’s in.
