Actress and comedian Roseanne Barr does not have a new TV show or more than 1 billion views, as claimed in a social media post that revives a story that circulated on a satirical website.

An Aug. 25 Facebook post included a side-by-side photo of Barr and “The View” host Whoopi Goldberg , with the caption: “BREAKING NEWS: Roseanne’s new show garners record-breaking 1 billion views in its first episode “Same thing ruined The View!”

The article, which links to an article on a Vietnamese website , has no publication date, show name, premiere date, channel, streaming service, or platform, nor does it state its source.

As of September 9, there were no credible reports of Barr hosting a new show on any television network or streaming service. Her website was updated on September 8 with social media posts and podcast clips, and there was no mention of any upcoming TV show.

In December 2023, the satirical website Dunning-Kruger Times published an article with the identical headline, “Roseanne’s show breaks The View’s daytime ratings record — and then breaks it again,” which included this bottom line: “The show will be broadcast live to the public when it is no longer a part of the reporters’ imagination.”

The site calls itself “an affiliate of the ‘America’s Last Line of Defense’ parody, satire and silliness network.”

Wrong. Roseanne Barr has yet to launch a new show that attracts 1 billion viewers or tops “The View” ratings.
