LOS ANGELES (Askume) – Actress Kathryn Hahn is meeting weekly with a man she describes as a real-life witch to help her better play the witch Agatha Harkness on the soap opera “Agatha Always Got Help.”

“Their mission is to diminish what we think of as witches and increase the community and nature aspect,” Hahn said.

The Marvel miniseries, created by director Jac Schaeffer, is a spin-off of the Emmy-winning Disney (DIS.N) Plus series “WandaVision ,” also a Schaeffer creation.

Hahn reprises her role as Harkness from “WandaVision” and is joined by Debra Jollup, who reprises her role as Mrs. Hart; Aubrey Plaza; Patti LuPone; Sahir Zamata and Ari Ahn.

The first two episodes of Agatha’s Journey will be available Wednesday on Disney+.

The show picks up after the events of WandaVision, with Harkness finding himself still unconscious in the town of Westview, New Jersey.

However, she manages to escape the town with the help of a gothic teenage witch, who encourages her to regain her powers by facing the trials of the legendary “Witch’s Path”.

Accompanied by the Gothic Youth (referred to as “the Teen” because his name is not immediately revealed), Harkness recruits other witches to join their new group and embark on a journey of magical power.

It was important to Schaeffer to tell a story about a powerful woman and to assemble a team of writers who could explore the various supernatural gifts possessed by witches in mythology and pop culture.

“I urged the writers to do thorough research,” he said.

He said: “They all have interests in different areas. You know, one writer is very interested in tarot cards. One writer is very interested in herbs and trees, and then another is very interested in some sort of magic. – Be a big fan of tarot cards and mystical things.

Another aspect of women in power influencing artists and creators is that the witch community was created by real-life women.

“I mean a female director, a female writer, a female lead and starring Joe [Joe Locke],” Rupp said, highlighting the majority of the work done by women on the show.

For Ann, the miniseries also shows what it means to be a strong woman by presenting complex and flawed characters.

“There’s more than one way to manifest power,” Ann said. “You know, all the witches, all the characters, are so different. I think that’s amazing. There are so many ways that these women can be represented, you know, literally and emotionally.”

The group also expresses itself through music, including a special witch song they sing together, “Song of the Witch’s Way.”

For three-time Tony Award-winning Broadway actor Patti LuPone, playing the witch Lilia Caldreau felt like it was tailor-made.

“You know, it becomes destiny when you start to realize, ‘Okay, I played a witch in ‘Pulp’ and now I’m playing another witch,'” LuPone said.

“I did tarot readings on ‘American Horror Story,’ and I do this now,” he said.
