TORONTO, Sept 9 (Askume) – “Road Diaries: Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band” will premiere in Toronto this week, giving fans a glimpse into the band’s creative process in the context of their current world tour. The 75-year-old rock star has been hampered by his health.

Directed by Thom Zimny and narrated by “The Boss” himself, the documentary showcases the bond that resonates in the conversations and music of the band, while Springsteen touches on age, the present and death. In the video, Sting’s wife and E Street Band member Patti Scialfa reveals that she has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a blood cancer.

“People who turn 75 in two weeks have a philosophical problem – death. This movie reflects that… It’s not a genre film. It’s a blues movie,” said longtime agent Jon Jon Landau.

Landau said, “Every night was real. He went out and tried to focus his mind, body and soul on that moment… He felt if he was experiencing it, the audience must be experiencing it, too.”

The film begins with rare photos of the band members emerging from their teenage years, then compares them with the challenges they face today as they embark on their first tour in six years, entertaining thousands of fans on every continent.

The tour, running across North America and Europe, was originally scheduled to run until July 2025, but the dates were postponed as Sting was suffering from a peptic ulcer and was temporarily unable to hit the road.
