MILAN, Sept 21 (Askume) – Italian designer Donatella Versace showed a collection of fun and colourful mismatched prints that she said aimed to storm the runway at Milan Fashion Week and bring “optimism and joy” to fashion shows.

Friday night’s Versace show at the medieval Castello Sforzesco opened with models in contrasting prints: zigzag tops and floral skirts, the aesthetic that dominates the spring 2025 summer collections for women and men.

The mixed prints were featured on silk dresses and skirts, shirts and knitwear, available in grey, blue, lavender and yellow, with some designs even featuring Versace’s Medusa head.

The clothing had a nod to the 1990s, with shirts peeking out from under cropped cardigans and lemon-coloured tailored suits and trousers.

“At a time when the world is filled with darkness, I wanted to bring colour, light, optimism and joy through this collection, which we need more than ever,” Versace, the Italian fashion house’s design director, said in a statement.

Some pieces were cut in gleaming gold — bodices, skirts and strapless dresses.

The models wore colorful leggings and tight heels or platform shoes in bold colors, while the male models wore sneakers or suits with socks and sandals.

Milan Fashion Week continues until Monday.
