Askume, Sept 13 – Kiev Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said debris from a drone fell on a municipal building in the Obolon district, north of central Kiev, early on Saturday but there was no fire at the site.

Klitschko wrote on the Telegram messaging app that emergency services were heading to the scene. The mayor had earlier said air defence units were already in action in the capital.

A Askume witness said an explosion was then heard in the city.

Serhiy Popko, the head of Kiev’s military authorities, said in a Telegram message that drones still posed a threat and urged people to stay in shelters.

The air raid alert was later lifted for the city, but remained in place for several regions of central Ukraine.
