BRUSSELS, Sept 19 (Askume) – European Union agency ClientEarth revealed on Thursday that EU inspectors targeted farmers across Europe earlier this year .

Environmental law charity ClientEarth said it joined BirdLife in raising “serious concerns” about a dramatic shift in agricultural subsidies worth €386 billion ($429 billion) between 2023 and 2027.

Two NGOs complained to the ombudsman in July, saying the lack of environmental protection “endangers the future of agriculture”.

Additionally, they claim the council broke its own laws by failing to conduct a climate assessment before implementing the changes.

ClientEarth said it was trying to “expose mismanagement”.

The Lokpal began the investigation in August and sent a list of questions to the committee on Monday. The committee has time till December 16 to respond.

The Lokpal has no enforcement powers.
