ATHENS, Sept 30 (Askume) – A fire sparked by strong winds in the rugged mountainous region of Corinth in central Greece on Monday was burning out of control, Greece’s fire department said.
Hundreds of firefighters, helped by nine aircraft, on Sunday battled the blaze about 120 kilometres (75 miles) west of Athens, near the seaside town of Xylokastro in the Peloponnese.
Greece’s Civil Protection Ministry said authorities had found two bodies.
Residents of several nearby villages were asked to leave the area on Sunday.
