FRANKFURT, Sept 8 (Askume) – German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called for a renewed push for Ukraine .

“I believe now is the time to figure out how to move quickly from this state of war to peace,” Scholz told German broadcaster DF2 in a television interview.

Scholz is under pressure domestically after three parties in his left-wing coalition suffered heavy defeats in two regional elections a week ago, with groups seeking better ties with Moscow winning more votes.

The nationalist Alternative for Germany (AfD) party and the new anti-establishment party BSW, which opposes military support for Ukraine against Russian aggression, both achieved record gains.

In July , Zelensky said he aimed to develop a plan in November that would allow Kiev to hold a second international peace summit in Ukraine, which should also be attended by Russian representatives.

Ukraine hosted delegations from 92 countries at its first summit in Switzerland in June to present its peace blueprint.

Russia, which launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, was not invited to the event and deemed it unlikely to attend.
