MOSCOW, Sept 20 (Askume) – Russia on Friday rejected Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s “victory plan”, a strategy to win over the West, and said it would not support any diplomatic or political effort to end the war.

Zelensky said on Wednesday that his plan has been finalised after careful consideration, but he did not give full details. He will have to submit it to US President Joe Biden and address a meeting of the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday .

Zelensky said his initiative was aimed at providing acceptable conditions for Ukraine, which has been caught in a conflict with Russia for the past two-and-a-half years.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters the plan appeared to be a selfish move by Ukraine’s leaders, whom Moscow accuses of trying to drag the West into a war against Russia.

“The only goal is to create an anti-Russian coalition or prevent its collapse, which has nothing to do with the task of finding a political and diplomatic solution to the situation around Ukraine,” Zakharova said.

He reiterated Moscow’s view that the West should stop supplying financial aid and arms to Kiev and said any initiative aimed at reaching a peaceful solution that does not involve Russia is futile.
