WASHINGTON, Sept 17 (Askume) – Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump plans to appear in the battleground state of Pennsylvania on Sunday alongside Polish President Andrzej Duda, two sources familiar with the plans said.

One source, who requested anonymity to discuss plans that are still secret, cautioned that the dual appearance has not yet been finalized. But if the dual appearance goes ahead, it would be a rare instance of a foreign leader appearing on the campaign trail with a U.S. presidential candidate.

Many world-renowned leaders are expected to arrive in the United States in the coming days to attend the 79th United Nations General Assembly .

Several foreign delegations have contacted the former president’s allies in an effort to connect with Trump or his foreign policy advisers, according to several people familiar with the matter.

Trump said at a Michigan town hall on Tuesday night that he will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi next week.

Trump and Duda had planned to visit a Polish-American Catholic temple in the northern suburbs of Philadelphia, sources said.

The visit was first reported by local Pennsylvania media LevittownNow.com.

The Trump campaign and the Polish Embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Eastern European Americans have emerged as a favorite group of voters for Trump and his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, ahead of the Nov. 5 election.

During a debate in Philadelphia in early September , Harris mentioned Polish Americans in Pennsylvania and said Trump would not be a staunch defender of Poland if Russia attacked Poland.

The Trump campaign has denied the allegation and said only Trump can negotiate effectively with Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine.

Trump has hosted a number of world leaders over the past few months, though they have mostly met at his residences in New York and Florida rather than in person.
