September 22 – Aaron Judge hit his 54th major league home run and Carlos Rodon pitched six scoreless innings against the visiting New York Yankees on Saturday night. The New York Yankees beat the Oakland Athletics 10–0, giving manager Aaron Boone his 600th career win.

The Yankees (91-64) lowered their magic number to three and took control of the American League East after the Detroit Tigers beat the Baltimore Orioles 6-4 on Saturday.

Judge hit his first home run in the seventh inning, giving the Yankees a 7-0 lead. New York beat Oakland veteran J.P. Sears (11-12), allowing six runs and nine hits in five innings. Sears had six strikeouts and two walks.

The Yankees scored two runs in the first inning. Gleyber Torres scored on Giancarlo Stanton’s double and Jason Domínguez scored on an RBI single.

Anthony Volpe hit his 12th home run of the season in the second inning, increasing the lead to 3–0.

Stanton extended the Yankees’ lead in the third. He hit a 3-pointer – his 26th of the year – to give New York a 6–0 lead.

Rodon (16-9) allowed five hits and struck out four in six scoreless innings to even his win-loss record.

Boone became the seventh manager in Yankees history to reach 600 wins, joining Joe McCarthy (1,460 games), Joe Torre (1,173 games), Casey Stengel (1,149 games), Miller (1,149 games), behind Huggins (1,067 games), Ralph Houk (944 games) and Joe Girardi (910 games).

Stanton went 2-4 with two runs scored, three runs scored and 14 hits for the Yankees. Torres helped lead the way with three hits and two RBIs. Judge, Juan Soto and Jon Berti each had two hits. Volpe, Judge and Soto also scored two each.

Shea Langeliers had a double for the Athletics (67-88), who will face the Yankees for the last time in Oakland on Sunday. Oakland finished the game with only five hits.
