Sept. 14 – Jake Little allowed only two hits in six scoreless innings, Logan Driscoll hit his first career home run and Jonathan Aranda also scored on a deep ball, as the visiting Tampa Bay Rays beat the Cleveland Guardians 3–1 on Friday night.

Little (7-9) allowed only a double to Jose Ramirez in the first inning and a triple to Josency Noel in the second. The right-hander pitched five scoreless innings Sunday at Baltimore, striking out five and allowing no runs at Tampa Bay, extending his scoreless innings streak to 13 games.

The Rays (73–75) won the first two games of the four-game series after losing all three games in Philadelphia earlier in the week.

Cleveland’s Tanner Beebe (11-8) gave up all three runs on two homers for Tampa Bay, allowing eight hits and striking out nine in six innings.

David Fry’s RBI double in the eighth inning hit the top of the 19-foot left field wall to provide the only run for the AL Central-leading Guardians (84-64). Cleveland had a combined three runs and nine hits in the first two games of the set.

Tampa Bay opened the scoring in the third quarter. After José Siri missed a pass over the center field wall, Driscoll hit a clear shot into the right field seats for a historic home run, putting the Rays up 2–0.

The Rays’ Christopher Morrell had one on right base in the bottom of the inning but left immediately because of a strained right Achilles tendon, according to the team.

One inning later, Aranda hit a single to the front row in right field, increasing Tampa Bay’s lead to 3–0.

Rays relievers Kevin Kelly, Mason Montgomery and Edwin Urceta combined to give up two hits, Cleveland’s only runs through three innings. Uceta struck out all five batters he faced for his third save.

Sealy had two hits for Tampa Bay, which improved to 4–1 in the 2024 season series against the Guardians.

Noel recorded half of Cleveland’s four hits.
