Sept. 19 – Adolis Garcia hit a two-run homer and Cody Bradford pitched seven scoreless innings to lead the Texas Rangers. The Texas Rangers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 2-0 on Wednesday in Arlington, Texas.

Garcia singled over the right-center field wall to deny Addison Bugg a potential extra-base hit in the third inning. Garcia then drove the winning run to home plate in the sixth inning.

Rookie Wyatt Langford singled in the bottom of the sixth inning, then Garcia drove a sinker over the wall off Bowden Francis (8-5) for the game’s only score. The home run was Garcia’s 23rd of the season and his first since Sept. 5.

Bradford benefited greatly from this explosive comeback after being beaten badly in his previous game. On September 11, he allowed a career-best eight runs on nine hits in 3 2/3 innings in a 14–4 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Bradford (6-3) allowed five hits, struck out six and walked no batters Wednesday.

He struck out the first 12 batters before Alejandro Kirk’s single in the bottom of the fifth inning drove in a single. Kirk advanced to third on Spencer Horwitz’s double, but Bradford ended the threat by striking out the next three batters.

Texas’ David Robertson retired the batters in order in the eighth inning, then Kirby Yates did the same in the ninth to earn his 31st save of the season.

The Rangers (73-79) earned their second consecutive win after a 13-run, 13-hit performance in Tuesday’s series opener. Garcia, who had two hits and three runs in the previous game, had one of his team’s five hits on Wednesday.

The Blue Jays (72-80) allowed 13 hits in the series opener and allowed just five on Wednesday.

Francis continued his three-game hitting streak, though he allowed only two runs on five hits, six strikeouts, and four walks in six innings.
