September 16 – Eugenio Suarez led the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 11-10 win over the Milwaukee Brewers in 10 innings in the final game of a three-game series in Phoenix. For the Milwaukee Brewers, Eugenio Suarez became the hero in the end zone with a bases-loaded hit over the right field wall.

Brewers closer Devin Williams sat in the bullpen despite being available, and after Jackson Chourio’s two-run triple in the top of the 10th inning, with Milwaukee ahead 10–10, Arizona scored three runs against Milwaukee’s Jared Koenig (8-4), leading to a scoreless ninth inning.

Adrian del Castillo had an RBI single to start the tenth inning. Koenig singled and then loaded the bases with no outs, hitting Christian Walker to tie the game at 10–10 before Suarez hit the game-winning single.

The big win saved the series for Arizona (83-66), which is 1 1/2 games behind the San Diego Padres for a National League wild-card spot and would give up the NFC Central-leading Brewers (86 -63) with a victory.

Jolio made 3 of 6 shots for Milwaukee and scored a career-high five points. Arizona’s Justin Martinez intentionally walked Brice Turang in the 10th inning to give Jolio a chance to hit.

Trailing 5–0 after Pavon Smith’s three-run double in the third inning, the Brewers scored eight runs. After two singles by Eric Haase and Tourang, Chourio hit his 21st home run of the season in the fifth inning to put Arizona up 5–3.

In the sixth inning, Willy Adames hit a two-run double and Haas hit a game-tying two-run homer to give Milwaukee a 7–5 lead. Sal Fralic made the score 8–5 with an RBI single in the seventh, then Aaron Ashby struck out Geraldo Pell in the bottom of the inning and Geraldo Perdomo drove in two runs on a run-scoring single and Randal Grichuk’s RBI double.

Corbin Carroll tied the game at 8-8 on a sacrifice fly to center off Suarez in the eighth. Carroll drew a leadoff walk against Milwaukee starter Trevor Megill, then stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch.

Suarez had three RBIs. Josh Bell had a double, two walks and an RBI for the Diamondbacks. The walk went 2 for 3. Blake Walston (1-0) struck out a batter in the top of the 10th inning.

Arizona’s Kevin Ginkel gave up four earned runs, while starting pitcher Zac Gallen gave up six hits, three runs and two walks in five innings and struck out seven.

DL Hall made his first start since August 30 and the Brewers switched to a six-man rotation, allowing five runs, five hits and three walks in three innings while striking out four. Joe Ross, who replaced Hall to start the fourth inning, struck out 2 1/3 and gave up a hit.
