September 29 – Enrique Hernández has two home runs and a hit, Teoscar Hernández also has a home run, Los Angeles Dodgers The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies 13–2 on Saturday night in Denver.
Shohei Ohtani had two hits to raise his average to .310, four runs behind San Diego’s Luis Arraez and one game away from becoming the National League’s first Triple Crown winner since 1937. Ohtani also stole his 58th base.
Arraez did not play a part in the Padres’ 5–0 win over Arizona State.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto (7-2), making his fourth start after missing three months because of a torn rotator cuff, allowed two runs on four hits and struck out six in five innings. Chris Taylor and Gavin Lux had three hits each, Will Smith and Max Muncy had two each, and Los Angeles (97-64) had 18 total hits.
Ezequiel Tovar had three hits and a home run, Nolan Jones had two hits and Charlie Blackmon had a score for Colorado (61-100).
Blackmon, who had the final game of his career, singled in the bottom of the first inning, advanced to third base on Tovar’s single and scored on a sacrifice fly to give Colorado a 1–0 lead.
The Dodgers responded in the second half. Smith singled, Tommy Edman walked, and Enrique Hernández hit a home run to center field, his 12th of the season, to make it 3–1.
Los Angeles added another run in the third inning when Mookie Betts hit a double, moved to third on a fly ball, and scored on a passed ball.
Tovar hit his 26th homer in the bottom of the inning to make the score 4–2, but the Dodgers got back in the game on Kevin Kiermaier’s RBI single in the fourth inning.
Colorado starter Antonio Senzatela’s night ended when Los Angeles struck out Ohtani and Lux in the fifth inning. Senzatela (0-1) gave up seven runs (six earned) on six hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Teoscar Hernandez hit his 33rd home run off reliever Jeff Criswell to make it 8–2. Hernandez had 99 RBIs.
The Dodgers scored a run in the eighth inning and four more in the ninth inning to seal the win.
