September 19 – Michael Conforto has three hits, including a home run, and the San Francisco Giants beat the host Baltimore Orioles again on Wednesday night, winning 5–3.

Mike Yastrzemski hit a home run for the second consecutive night and Casey Schmidt drove in two runs for the Giants.

The Orioles (84-68) have lost eight of their last 10 games and are in danger of falling out of the AL East chase with the New York Yankees. Baltimore began the night trailing the Yankees by four games.

The Giants (74-78) won’t make the playoffs, but they are off to a strong start with two games left in their nine-game road trip. San Francisco won the series opener 10-0 on Tuesday.

Hayden Birdsong (4-5) won for the first time in six decisions, ending a winless drought of more than 1 1/2 months. He allowed three runs on four hits and two walks in 5 2/3 innings, striking out three.

Tyler Rogers and Ryan Walker each pitched perfect innings, with Walker recording his eighth save.

Orioles starter Dean Kremer (7-10) allowed five runs (4 ERA) on seven hits in six innings without allowing a single base. He struck out seven.

Gunnar Henderson had two of Baltimore’s seven hits.

Yastrzemski hit his first home run for the second night in a row, this time his 17th long ball of the season.

The Orioles scored their first runs in the third game of the game. James McCann doubled in the first and Cedric Mullins scored on an RBI grounder to give Baltimore a 2–1 lead.

The pads didn’t last long. The Giants scored a three in the fourth inning to take a 4-2 lead. An error in the first inning and Schmidt singled to score two runs.

In the sixth inning, Conforto hit his 17th home run, increasing San Francisco’s lead to 5–2.

Ryan O’Hearn’s RBI double in the sixth inning cut the deficit to 5–3, but Giants reliever Eric Miller came in for the tying run, stranding two runners on base. Baltimore put pressure on the bases with two outs in the seventh inning against Sean Yeler but was unsuccessful.
