September 15 – Corbin Burnes pitched seven scoreless innings and Gunnar Henderson hit his 37th home run on Saturday night, as the visiting Baltimore Orioles beat the Detroit Tigers 4–2.
Burns (14-8) allowed two hits, walked one and struck out seven for the Orioles (84-65). Henderson had two hits, scored two and drove in two runs, while Cedric Mullins had two hits and an RBI.
Parker Meadows hit a home run for Detroit (76-73) in the ninth inning to start a two-run rally. Colt Keith had three hits to score another run for the Tigers.
Bobrisk serves as the Tigers’ opener for the second night in a row. He walked the first two batters he faced and then induced a grounder on Anthony Santander’s double. Adley Rutschman then struck out and limited the runner to third.
The Orioles took the lead in the third inning when Ty Madden (1-1) came on to ground out. Henderson had a two-out double and then Mullins hit an RBI single to center.
Baltimore threatened Shawn Guenther in the sixth inning when Mullins and Santander hit consecutive singles. A double and grounder put Guenther ahead 1–0.
The Orioles extended their lead in the seventh inning. Kenta Maeda’s pitch hit Emmanuel Rivera and Livan Soto doubled to right, putting the runner in scoring position. James McCann’s sacrifice fly scored Rivera. Henderson hit Maeda’s breakaway pass over the right field wall to make the score 4–0.
Keith scored a run in the bottom of the inning, but he reached second only after Burns struck out the next three batters.
Detroit’s fourth double play in the eighth inning kept the score at 4–0. The Orioles got revenge after Spencer Torkelson hit a single off Cionel Pérez.
Meadows led off the ninth inning with his eighth homer and shutout Serantoni Dominguez. Keith then singled. After two flyouts, Vincel Perez struck out but reached first on a wild pitch. Torkelson hit a single off Keith and the score became 0-2. Zach McKinstry then homered to end the game.
