Sept. 10—Brandon Drury and Nico Cavadas each hit two-run homers Monday night and the Los Angeles Angels Minneapolis beat the Minnesota Twins 6–2.

Nolan Sanur also scored two points for Los Angeles (60-84), which won the first game of the three-game series. Taylor Ward went 3-4 and earned a walk.

Kyle Farmer hit a solo homer to give Minnesota a (76-68) lead. Carlos Santana also scored for the Twins, who lost their fourth consecutive game.

Angels left-hander Reid Detmers (4-6) limited the Twins to two runs on five hits in six innings. He gave up two walk-offs and eight strikeouts and struck out 63 in 97 pitches.

Twins right-hander David Festa (2-6) allowed four runs on four hits in four innings. He walked three times and struck out four times.

Angels right-hander José Suárez finished the game with three scoreless innings. He allowed zero hits, walked one and struck out four, earning his first career save in 96 games (59 starts).

Los Angeles was ahead 2-0 in the first quarter.

Ward drew a leadoff walk and moved to third on Jack Neto’s ground-rule double. Moments later, Ward and Neto both ran home and scored on Sanuel’s single to left.

In the third inning, Drury extended the Angels’ lead to 4–0. He hit a two-run homer 459 feet away, his fourth home run of the season.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Twins made it 4-1. Michael Helman led off with a single to right, then Santana hit a single to left and walked three batters.

Farmer’s single in the fourth gave the Twins a 4–2 lead. The two-out blast also marked his fourth home run of the season.

Cavadas hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning to extend the Angels’ lead to 6–2. He faced a full count when he jumped on a slider for the third home run of his rookie season.
