September 20 – Andrés Gimenez had three hits, including an RBI single in the 10th inning, as the Cleveland Browns beat the Minnesota Twins, 3–2, on Thursday to clinch postseason game seats.

Minnesota’s Caleb Thielba (2-4) was on the mound, Cleveland’s Jose Ramirez had an automatic runner on second base in the 10th inning, and Josh Naylor was first on base on an intentional strikeout of Ryan Thomas. Jimenez then hit a single to right field to end the game.

Kyle Manzado had three hits for Cleveland (89-65), giving the team its fifth win in six games and earning at least a wild-card spot in the upcoming playoffs.

The Guardians’ Joey Cantillo gave up two runs (earned) on three hits in 4 1/3 innings, and six relievers allowed no runs in the final 5 2/3 innings. Eli Morgan (3-0) earned the win by working a scoreless 10th inning.

Minnesota (80-73) Simeon Woods Richardson allowed one run on five hits and six strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings. Manuel Maggot scored a run and the Twins lost for the fifth time in seven games.

The loss tied the Twins with the Detroit Tigers for the final wild-card spot in the American League.

Manzado hit his fourth home run of the season to give Cleveland a 1–0 lead in the first inning.

The Twins’ Kyle Farmer hit a double in the fifth inning, then Willi Castro struck out Matt Wollner before loading the bases. Margot then doubled to center, allowing a defensive error by Thomas to score the second run, giving Minnesota a 2–1 lead.

Minnesota’s Cole Irvin hit a grounder in the bottom of the sixth inning and loaded the bases before Bryan Rocchio hit a sacrifice fly to center to tie it at 2–2.

In the 10th inning, Morgan hit Wallner with a pitch, giving the Twins first and second with no outs. Margot loaded the bases after Castro’s sacrifice bunt advanced both runners. Morgan retired Carlos Correa in pop-up situation and Byron Buxton escaped overcrowding on the line.
