September 12 – Royce Lewis went 2-4-4 with a double and two runs scored, and the Minnesota Twins beat the Los Angeles Angels 6–4 in Minneapolis on Wednesday night.

Brooks Lee also scored two points for Minnesota (78-68), which won the rubber game of the three-game series. Matt Warner hit a solo home run.

Nolan Schanuel went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs for Los Angeles (60-86). Tyler Ward and Jordin Adams also hit home runs.

Twins right-hander Cole Sands (7-1) struck out two batters and allowed no runs. He is one of five relievers following starting pitcher Zebbie Matthews, who allowed two walks, two runs and struck out two on five hits in 3 1/3 innings.

Angels right-hander Jack Kochanowicz (2-5) allowed four runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings. He walked one and struck out three.

Twins closer Jhon Duran survived in the ninth for his 23rd save.

Ward led off the first inning with a 416-foot blast to center, his team-high 23rd home run.

Woerner responded with a solo home run in the bottom of the first. His 435-foot blast was his 13th home run of the season and his second in as many games.

Sanur helped the Angels take the lead with a home run in the third quarter, making the score 2–1.

Minnesota went ahead 4-2 with a three-run fourth and goal. Willi Castro hit an RBI single to center and Lee followed shortly after with a two-run double to left.

Los Angeles made the score 4–3 in the sixth inning. Adams loaded the bases with two outs and singled to center for his first career home run in Game 20.

Lewis drove in two insurance runs for the Twins in the seventh inning. With the bases loaded and two outs, he hit a two-run double to left field to make the score 6–3.

In the ninth inning, Sanuel had an RBI single and the Angels brought the score to 6–4. Los Angeles had runners on second and third, but Duran threw out to shortstop Michael Stefanik to end the game.
