September 12 – Tyler O’Neill hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Boston Red Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles 5–3 on Wednesday night.

O’Neal hit a home run against Keegan Akin (3-1), his 30th home run of the season. O’Neal has three homers in a three-game series and five homers in the last five games.

The Orioles (83–64) took a 3–2 lead in the top of the 10th inning when third baseman Austin Slater singled off Emmanuel Rivera).

Boston’s Greg Weissert (4-2) scored the winning run in the 10th inning.

Masataka Yoshida had two hits for Boston, which won twice in the three-game series. The Red Sox (74-72) won 12-3 on Monday and the Orioles won 5-3 on Tuesday.

Rivera hit his third home run and Anthony Sanchez hit his 41st home run for Baltimore, which has failed to score more than three runs in six of its last seven games. Colton Cowher also had two hits for the Orioles.

Boston’s starting pitcher Nick Pivetta struck out nine in six innings. Pivetta allowed one run on four hits and one walk.

Baltimore starter Dean Kremer lasted seven innings. He allowed two runs (ERA) on five hits, struck out seven, and drove in two walk-off runs.

Baltimore is 4-2 at Fenway Park this season.

The Orioles took a 1–0 lead when Rivera scored off Pivetta in the third inning. It was Pivetta’s 25th home run of the year.

Boston tied the score at 1–1 in the first half. Jalen Duran singled, Rafael Devers moved to second after a walk, and scored on Rivera’s throwing error.

In the fourth inning, Syden Rafaela hit a two-out single and Yoshida scored to give Boston a 2–1 lead, but in the eighth inning, Santander hit a home run to tie the score at 2–2.

Each team had eight hits and 10 strikeouts.
