Sept. 9 – X-rays and MRI of Denver Broncos left tackle Garett Bolles’ ankle came back negative, head coach Sean Payton said Monday, and the team’s top prospect has been ruled out.

Bolles left the game in the second half of Sunday’s season opener and did not return. He was replaced by Matt Peart at left tackle.

In the season opener, the Seattle Seahawks scored 17 points in the second half as Denver lost 26–20.

The Broncos have turned to rookie quarterback Bo Nix this season, and continuity on the offensive line is key. Against the Seahawks, Nix completed 26 of 42 passes for 138 yards and two interceptions.

The Broncos will host the Pittsburgh Steelers in their home opener on Sunday when they visit Denver.

Bolles, who was selected by the Broncos with the 20th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, played in his 100th career game and started on Sunday.
