Askume Sep 19 – MotoGP will be held in Hungary for the first time since 1992. To this end, we have reached an agreement with the Balaton Park circuit, which will host the race from next season, organiser Dorner said on Thursday.

After the first race in Hungary in 1990 and the second in 1992, the top-flight event will return to the central European country with a provisional date set for the weekend of August 22-24, 2025.

The track near Lake Balaton, which will also host next season’s Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) race, will be upgraded ahead of the race.

Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports, said: “We are very pleased to announce that Balaton Park will be included in the 2025 MotoGP and WorldSBK calendars. The circuit is ideally located and will become an excellent destination for racing fans.”

“We have been working hard to add this historic venue to the calendar, adding a new chapter to the history of the Hungarian Motorcycle Grand Prix, and we are very much looking forward to returning to this key market in Central Europe”

The 2025 season is scheduled to begin with the Thai Grand Prix in March.
