Sept 20 (Askume) – Scotland’s John Higgins became the second player to hit 1,000 career century breaks, achieving the feat by beating Mark Allen at the British Open on Thursday.
Four-time world champion Higgins, 49, made more than two hundred in a 4-3 win, following in the footsteps of Ronnie O’Sullivan, who passed the career century mark in 2019. 100% success.
The next player to reach this mark could be world number one Judd Trump, who has a score of 998.
“It’s a nice achievement. I’ve been playing this game for a long time to get to this point. You’ve got to be proud of it,” Higgins said.
“I’m really proud. To be honest, I wanted to get there before Judd. I think I was 14 years ahead of him.
“It’s nice to be second to Ronnie O’Sullivan, who is the best ever. Judd will obviously keep going and probably surpass Ronnie’s century record.”
