September 23 – Jack Charbonnet threw for a career-best 91 yards and two touchdowns and the defense did the rest, holding the Seattle Seahawks to 24 – 3 to beat the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon.

DK Metcalf had a 71-yard touchdown reception and Jason Myers kicked a 56-yard field goal for the Seahawks (3-0).

Seattle’s defense limited the Dolphins (1-2) to 205 yards of total offense. Miami went 1 of 12 on third downs and 0 of 3 on fourth downs while committing 11 penalties for 85 yards.

Skyler Thompson, who became Miami’s starting quarterback when Tua Tagovailoa was placed on injured reserve due to a concussion, completed 13 of 19 passes, 107 yards, and five sacks. Thompson left the game with 9:35 minutes remaining in the third quarter due to a chest injury.

That means the Dolphins will have to turn to third-string player Tim Boyle, who has been signed to the practice squad. Playing for his fifth team in six seasons, Boyle completed 7 of 13 passes for 79 yards.

Boyle led the Dolphins on a first-and-goal score on Seattle’s three-yard line early in the fourth quarter, but the Seahawks stood firm at the goal line and Miami got the ball downfield.

When the Seahawks led 17-3 at the end of the first quarter, it looked like they would turn the game into a big rout. But two turnovers and 11 sacks for 92 yards prevented them from increasing their lead until Charbonnet, who replaced the injured Kenneth Walker III (slash), scored 10 runs with 4:55 remaining in the fourth quarter, but it didn’t even matter.

Seattle’s Geno Smith completed 26 of 34 passes for 289 yards, including one touchdown and two interceptions, both on kickbacks.

The Seahawks opened the scoring on a Myers field goal, then Charbonnet scored on a 4-yard drive from left back.

Late in the first quarter, the Dolphins took over on Seattle’s 6-yard line. Smith’s pass from the end zone under pressure deflected off the hands of a leaping Charbonnet, and Cade Kehoe caught the ball and scored. Miami had to settle for Jason Sanders’ 23-yard field goal.

On Seattle’s next scrimmage, Smith found Metcalf for a long touchdown on the final drive of the first quarter. Metcalf had four catches for 104 yards.
