Sept. 24 – The Memphis Grizzlies have waived veteran guard Derrick Rose from the team, multiple media reported Monday.

Rose reportedly only lasted one season in Memphis and requested waivers.

Due to injuries, Rose played only 24 games (seven starts) in the 2023–24 season, averaging 8.0 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.

Rose, the first overall pick in the 2008 draft by the Chicago Bulls, was named Rookie of the Year following the 2008-09 season and won the MVP award at the end of the 2010-11 season. His career was cut short due to a torn ACL during the 2012 playoffs.

Rose, 35, is also a three-time All-Star.

723 games (518), played for the Bulls (2008-16), New York Knicks (2016-17, 2021-23), Cleveland Cavaliers (2017-18), Minnesota Timberwolves (2018- 19), Detroit Pistons (2019- 21) In his debut with the Grizzlies, Rose established career averages of 17.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game.
