Sept 16 (Askume) – Barcelona forward Dani Olmo will be ruled out for up to five weeks after suffering a right hamstring injury, the La Liga club said on Monday.
The 26-year-old suffered a muscle problem after scoring in a 4-1 league win over Girona on Sunday and was substituted in the 61st minute.
Olmo’s injury is a blow for coach Hansi Flick’s side, which opens the Champions League on Thursday after a perfect start to its domestic campaign so far.
The Spain international joined from RB Leipzig for €55 million ($61 million) and has scored in each of his three games for Barcelona.
The Catalan club will face Monaco at the Stade Louis II on Thursday before travelling to Villarreal for a La Liga match on Sunday. (1 USD = 0.8994 EUR)
