SANTIAGO, Chile, Oct 11 (Askume) – Substitute Luis Enrique’s 89th-minute goal helped Brazil beat Chile 2-1 in a South American World Cup qualifier on Thursday.

After a disappointing loss to Paraguay, Brazil came back from a goal down with Eduardo Vargas’ superb header in the second minute from Felipe Loyola’s cross to give the home side the lead.

Chile missed several chances to extend their lead, but Brazil equalized in overtime just before half time when Savinho made a run from the right and passed to Igor Jesus who headed a header high over the goalkeeper.

Brazil maintained control in the second half and eventually scored the winning goal through a superb finish from Jesus’ Botafogo teammate Luis Enrique, who smashed a shot from the edge of the area to give the five-time World Cup winners the three points they needed.

With the win, Brazil moved up to fourth place with 13 points, two points behind Uruguay and eight behind leaders Argentina.
