BIRMINGHAM, England, Sept 14 (Askume) – Jon Dolan scored as Aston Villa came back from two goals down to beat Estonia 3-2 in a thrilling match at Fulton on Saturday.

Everton maintained their lead through goals from Dwight McNeil and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but their defensive frailties were exposed once again, conceding 13 goals in four games this season.

Ollie Watkins scored twice for the home side, while Duran secured all three points with a superb strike from 30 yards with 14 minutes remaining.

Villa have moved to third place in the table with nine points from four games, while Everton are bottom of the table after losing all four games.

“It needed a magical moment and John did it,” Watkins told Sky Sports. “Everyone knows what he can do and when he gets the chance he does it. It was one of the best (goals) we’ve ever seen.”

“A lot of players are getting fit again. I’m still not feeling 100 per cent. I’m disappointed I didn’t get a hat-trick – I should have got the match ball – but I’m happy with the two.”

This is the first time in 66 years that Everton have suffered four defeats at the start of a league game. They have become the second team in the Premier League era to lose consecutive games. The last time they lost at home was to Bournemouth, who finished ahead by 22 points.

They took the lead when McNeil stole the ball from former Everton midfielder Amadou Onana and fired a low shot into the far corner of the net.

They doubled their lead when McNeil delivered a free kick and Calvert-Lewin headed it into the net.

Villa pulled a goal back when Lucas Digne crossed to the back post and Watkins scored his first league goal since April.

The home side equalised when Jack Harrison’s long ball reached Watkins, the striker clinically beating Pickford.

Duran scored with a superb volley from 30 yards, but Calvert-Lewin’s shot hit the crossbar and Everton equalised.

Everton manager Sean Dyche said: “We’re having a few failures at the moment. Every mistake seems to be a goal and we’re not taking every opportunity.”

“Unfortunately we were on the wrong side again. It’s hard to accept for different reasons than the last game.”
