Sep 13 (Askume) – Leicester City manager Steve Cooper said if Leicester succeeds in its appeal against the Premier League over alleged breaches of various spending rules

Earlier this month, the promoted club ‘s appeal was upheld on the grounds that the independent committee had no jurisdiction over the case, thus avoiding a potential points deduction.

“This is obviously a positive thing,” Cooper told reporters Thursday.

“It’s a bit disappointing because if we had known earlier (in the summer transfer window) things could have been different. I have to get over it but I’m very happy with the team.”

Media reports indicate that Leicester City have several transfer targets that have not been fulfilled, including Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson, who is on loan at Fulham, and Celtic midfielder Matt O’Reilly, who has joined Brighton.

Leicester City made several additions over the summer, including midfielder Oliver Skipp from Tottenham Hotspur and centre-back Caleb Okolie from Serie A side Atalanta .

However, Cooper welcomed the decision to give the club an explanation.

“It’s good for the supporters to have clarity and the same applies to the game. If it is a negative decision, we as a group of players and staff will be ready to stand up and fight for the club,” the 44-year-old said, explaining.

“We still have to make sure we stay united as a club and show what we are capable of. It all adds to the challenge but we are ready.”

Leicester City have one point in the league after three games and face Crystal Palace on Saturday.
