Sept 12 (Askume) – Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will face France striker Kylian Mbappe in a “legal forum” after the French striker rejected the French football governing body the League of Nations (LFP)’s offer to mediate in a pay dispute.

Paris Saint-Germain welcomed the French Professional Football League’s offer of mediation on Wednesday , but the France captain rejected the proposal.

The 25-year-old, who parted ways with the club last year after refusing to renew his contract, is demanding around 55 million euros ($60.73 million), according to French media reports.

The committee recommended that Mbappe either go to an employment tribunal or settle with the club, where he spent seven seasons before joining Real Madrid in June and is the club’s all-time top scorer.

PSG told Askume: “After hearing the arguments from both sides yesterday, the committee has repeatedly stressed the need for mediation between PSG and the player in order to reach a solution based on the arguments in PSG’s favour.”

“Contrary to the committee’s recommendations, the player has rejected this mediation process.”

“…Given the limited legal scope of the Commission to make a comprehensive decision on this matter, the case must now be debated in another legal forum, before which PSG must provide all the facts in the coming months. And I would be happy for a year.

Last year, he reported that Mbappe had agreed to give up his loyalty bonus if he left PSG on a free transfer.

In January, Mbappe said he had reached an agreement with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi that would “protect all parties and maintain peace at the club against future challenges”.

PSG said: “As a matter of law and fact, the player has made clear and unambiguous commitments on numerous occasions, both publicly and privately, which must be respected given the unprecedented benefits the club provided him during his seven years in Paris.”

“If the players wish to pursue this unimaginable reputational damage, the club hopes it can be upheld in the appropriate forum.”

A representative for Mbappe was not immediately available for comment.
