LIVERPOOL, England, Sept 21 (Askume) – Liverpool coach Arne Slot praised his side’s aggression on Saturday as they beat Bournemouth with three goals in the opening 45 minutes, a marked improvement on their humiliating defeat to Nottingham Forest a week ago in the Premier League.

Winger Luis Diaz scored twice in three minutes of the first half and Darwin Nunez scored his first league goal of the season as Bournemouth fought back but never recovered, with Liverpool taking the lead in the second half.

“It wasn’t as easy as the score suggested,” Slot told broadcaster Viasat. “I think Bournemouth were in the game, even though they were 3-0 down they kept going until the end. Keep going.”

“I really liked the way we started the game, we were very aggressive, we created enough chances before going 1-0 up and we defended until the end,” which he described as important.

After a disappointing performance against Forest, Slott was pleased with the way his team executed their game plan.

“Especially the way we set up at the back, at times we got free players in midfield – that happened a lot in the second half but we created chances in the first half,” the 46-year-old said.

Slott’s move to Liverpool remains on hold as he looks to establish his own style of play after taking over from Jurgen Klopp in the summer.

“That’s what we do on the training ground to get the best out of the team as well as individuals – they have to understand that everyone is connected,” Slaughter said.
