Sept. 15 — Trevor Etienne rushed for a team-high 79 yards on 19 carries to help top-ranked Georgia beat the University of Kentucky 13-12 on Saturday at Lexington, Kentucky.

Georgia (3-0, 1-0 SEC) won its 42nd consecutive regular season game as Carson Beck caught 15 of 24 passes for 160 yards and Dominic Lovett the Bulldogs caught six passes for 89 yards in their SEC opener.

Former Georgia quarterback Brock Vandagriff completed 14 of 27 attempts for 114 yards, while Demi Sumo-Karnagbe had all 11 passing yards, gaining a game-high 98 yards to help Kentucky (1-2, 0-2) lose its second consecutive game and 15th game to Georgia. Alex Raynor contributed all of Kentucky’s scoring on 4-for-4 shooting.

After Kentucky punted at the end of the third quarter, Etienne threw for 51 of Georgia’s 68 yards on the ensuing drive, setting up Branson Robinson’s 3-yard scoring run to give Georgia a 13–9 lead at 12:20.

2 Texas 56, UTSA 7

Archie Manning threw four touchdowns and ran for 67 yards as the Longhorns beat the Roadrunners in Austin, Texas, replacing the injured Quinn Evers.

Manning completed 9 of 12 passes for 223 yards in nearly two quarters, the most extensive action of the highly regarded redshirt freshman’s career, and the Longhorns (3-0) dominated from start to finish. Ewers completed 14 of 16 passes for 185 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in about a quarter of the game before leaving with an abdominal strain.

Owen McCown led UTSA (1-2) with 132 yards passing, while Robert Henry Jr. added 65 yards and a touchdown on six carries.

4 Alabama 42, Wisconsin 10

Jaylen Miller threw three touchdowns and ran for two more in Madison, Wisconsin, leading the Crimson Tide to a nondivisional round win over the Badgers, who gave up four points on a Tyler Van Dyke touchdown on their opening possession.

Miller completed 12 of 17 passes for 196 yards, including touchdowns of 31, 26 and 37 yards. He also rushed for a team-high 75 yards on 14 carries. Alabama (3-0) outgained Wisconsin 407-290, averaging 7.3 yards per carry compared to the Badgers’ (2-1) 4.0.

Van Dyke was replaced by redshirt sophomore Bradin Locke, who completed 13 of 26 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown. Chez Mellusi rushed for 66 yards on 11 carries.

No. 5 Ole Miss 40, Wake Forest 6

Jackson Dart passes for two scores and a touchdown, Henry Parrish Jr. runs for two touchdowns, Rebels take on the Devils in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Demon Deacons got off to a great start in the game.

Ole Miss (3-0) laid the foundation for another easy win by scoring 20 points in the first quarter. Dart completed 26 of 34 passes for 377 yards and an interception. Parish rushed for 148 yards on 23 carries.

Hank Bachmeier completed 22 of 39 passes for 239 yards, but he could not get Wake Forest into the end zone. The Demon Deacons (1-2) scored only on two field goals by Matthew Dennis.

Missouri 6 27, Boston College 24 21

Brady Cook completed 21 of 30 passes for 264 yards and a touchdown to lead the Tigers past the Eagles in Columbia, Missouri.

Cook also scored a touchdown for the Tigers (3-0), who erased a 14-3 deficit in the second quarter. Blake Craig kicked four field goals for Missouri: two for 38 yards, one for 31 yards and one for 56 yards.

Missouri committed eight penalties for 78 yards and outgained the Eagles (2-1) 440-295. Boston College’s Thomas Castellanos completed 16 of 28 passes for 249 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

7 Tennessee 71, Kent State 0

In a non-division game in Knoxville, Tennessee, Dylan Sampson scored 4 touchdowns, DeSean Bishop scored 2 touchdowns, scoring 65 points, a program record.

Bishop rushed for 120 yards on seven carries and Sampson added 101 yards on 13 carries as the Volunteers (3-0) outscored the Golden Flashes in the first 30 minutes. Tennessee scored 37 points in the first quarter, a franchise record, and the Volunteers scored 28 more points in the second quarter. Tennessee also set a school record with 740 yards of total offense.

Niko Iamalewa completed 10 of 16 passes for 173 yards and a touchdown as Tennessee took a 51-yard lead midway through the second quarter. Devin Kargman completed 9 of 15 passes for 58 yards for Kent State (0-3). Rocco Nicol had 10 tackles.

9 Oregon State 49, Oregon State 14

Visiting Oregon State (3-0) scored on eight possessions and built an eight-point lead over Oregon State for the first time since 2018. Dillon Gabriel was 20-of-24 passing for 291 yards with two touchdown passes and added another touchdown on the ground.

Jordan James rushed for 86 yards on 12 carries, including a touchdown in each half, and Noah Whittington ran for 64 yards, including a 27-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Tysheem Johnson had seven catches for 110 yards, helping the Ducks gain 546 yards against a defense that gave up a combined 15 points in the first two games.

Oregon State won for the 14th time in its last 17 games.

10 Miami 62, Ball State 0

Cam Ward threw for 346 yards and a career-high five touchdowns to help the Hurricanes defeat the Cardinals in Miami Gardens, Florida.

The start of the game was delayed by 2 1/2 hours after lightning struck the area on Saturday, but that didn’t stop Miami (3-0) from setting a school record with 750 total yards. Miami’s star players included Jacoby George (6 catches, 109 yards, 1 touchdown), Xavier Restrepo (3 catches, 47 yards, 2 touchdowns) and Ajayi Allen (104 yards rushing, 1 touchdown).

Ball State (1-1) was led by Kadin Semonza, who completed 16 of 26 passes for 111 yards and was intercepted once.

12 Utah 38, Utah 21

Isaac Wilson threw for 239 yards and three touchdowns in his first career start to lead Utah State over host Utah State in Logan, Utah.

Wilson, who is out, replaces Cameron Rising, who is out after injuring his right (throwing) hand last week against Baylor. Wilson had the first 200-yard game of his career and helped Utah State (3-0) beat Utah State for the 12th time in 13 games in the franchise series.

Utah State’s Bryson Barnes threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns in his first game against his former team. Barnes also threw two interceptions. The Aggies’ (1-2) Rahsul Faison ran for 115 yards on 19 touches.

13 Oklahoma State 45, Tulsa 10

Alan Bowman threw for 396 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Cowboys to a 28-point halftime lead over the Golden Hurricane.

Bowman completed 24 of 31 passes and had an interception as the Cowboys went 3–0. Oklahoma State outgained the Golden Hurricane 560–352 in their final non-conference game before hosting Utah State the following week.

Kirk Francis completed 14 of 31 passes for 153 yards, including an interception for Tulsa (1-2), which averaged 43 points per game. The offensive Cowboys allowed seven tackles for loss, including two sacks, and allowed only five of 16 third-down conversions.

No. 15 Oklahoma State 34, Tulane 19

Jackson Arnold threw for 169 yards and a touchdown and ran for 97 yards and two scores in Norman, Oklahoma.

Oklahoma State struggled in the fourth quarter as Tulane pushed the ball to the five-point line. But then Billy Bowman Jr. pulled down Darian Mensah’s pass for an interception, putting the ball in Tulane Oklahoma territory.

Then, the Sooners (3-0) finally showed some life after coming up empty-handed on four consecutive possessions. Arnold ripped off a 24-yard touchdown run, giving Oklahoma relief. Darian Mensah completed 14 of 32 passes for 166 yards and a touchdown and an interception for the Green Wave (1-2).

17 Michigan 28, Arkansas 18

Kalel Mullins rushed 15 times for 153 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Wolverines past the Red Wolves in Ann Arbor, Miss.

Donovan Edwards rushed 17 times for 82 yards and a score for Michigan (2-1), which outscored Arkansas State 301-58. Davis Warren completed 11 of 14 passes for 122 yards but was intercepted three times. Alex Orji threw a touchdown pass after replacing Warren.

Jalen Leno completed 19 of 33 passes for 140 yards and an interception for the Red Wolves (2-1). Timmy McClain threw two touchdown passes to Reginald Harden Jr. in the fourth quarter after the Wolverines built a 25-point lead.

16 LSU 36, South Carolina 33

Caden Durham scored two touchdowns and Josh Williams ran for 2 yards with 1:12 remaining to help the Tigers defeat the Columbia, S.C. Gamecocks.

Garrett Nussmeier passed for 285 yards and two touchdowns and led the Tigers (2-1, 1-0 SEC) on a 55-yard touchdown run for the game-winning score. Backup quarterback Robby Ashford led South Carolina to the LSU 31, but Alex Herrera missed a 49-yard field goal attempt as time expired.

The Gamecocks (2-1, 1-1) managed just 155 yards of offense as starting quarterback Lanorris Sellers (9-16 passing, 113 yards) scored on an injured right ankle on the final play of the first half.

No. 18 Notre Dame 66, Purdue 7

Riley Leonard rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns, Jeremiah Love ran for 109 yards and scored another score, the Fighting Irish beat the Boilermakers at Indiana West Lafayette.

Jadarion Price and Kenny Minchey also scored touchdowns for Notre Dame (2-1), which bounced back from an unexpected loss to Northern Illinois a week earlier. Leonard completed 11 of 16 passes for 112 yards before giving way to backup Steve Angeli, who completed 6 of 9 passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns.

Hudson Card completed 11 of 24 passes for 124 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions for Purdue (1-1). Notre Dame rushed for 362 yards, its most points since beating New Mexico State 66-14 at home on Sept. 14, 2019.

23 Nebraska 34, Northern Iowa 3

Freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola threw for 247 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Cornhuskers to a win over the Panthers in Lincoln, Neb.

The Cornhuskers (3-0) scored touchdowns on their first three possessions to win their first game as a ranked team since 2019. Dante Dowell rushed six times for 55 yards, helping Nebraska finish with 423 yards and improve to 3-0 for the first time since 2016.

For Northern Iowa (2-1), which is ranked 21st in the FCS poll, quarterback Aidan Dunn completed 13 of 25 passes for 117 yards and 2 receiving yards, and he left the game with 10 minutes to play.
