Sept. 10—The New York Yankees made several roster moves Monday, recalling outfield prospect Jason Dominguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ahead of play against the Kansas City Royals’ three-game home series.

Dominguez started in center field on Monday and went 1-4 with his sixth at-bat to help the Yankees beat the Royals 10-4.

The Yankees revealed that infielder DJ LeMahieu has suffered a right hip injury and has been placed on the 10-day injured list effective Friday. Head coach Aaron Boone told reporters that LeMahieu will undergo an MRI on Monday and it is unclear whether he will be able to play again this season.

New York reinstated infielder Jon Berti from the 60-day IL and assigned left-hander Anthony Misiewicz to the assignment.

Dominguez, 21, is ranked No. 1 in the Yankees organization and No. 16 in the minor leagues, according to MLB Pipeline.

He made his major league debut in September 2023, hitting 8-for-31 (.258) with four home runs and seven RBIs in eight games with New York. However, Dominguez tore the ulnar collateral ligament in his throwing elbow and had to undergo Tommy John surgery and was ruled out for the entire year.

The Yankees also recalled him as the 27th player to play in the Little League Classic against the Detroit Tigers last month. Dominguez went 0 for 4 with three strikeouts and returned to the minor leagues.

This year, in 44 games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Dominguez hit .309 with a .368 on-base percentage, .480 slugging percentage, seven home runs, 25 RBIs and 15 stolen bases.

LeMahieu, 36, played only one game in September as he struggled at the plate. LeMahieu played in 67 games this year, his sixth in New York, and batted a career-low .204 with two home runs and 26 RBIs. The former National League (2016, Colorado) and American League (2020) batting champion will split time between first and third base this year.

Berti, 34, joined the Yankees in a three-team trade from the Miami Marlins in March. He played in only 17 games, hitting 15-for-55 (.273) with a home run and six RBIs until a strained left calf muscle forced him to play on the IL in May.

Misiewicz, 29, has started one game for the Yankees this year and pitched a scoreless inning against Baltimore on June 19. During his five-year major league career, he has appeared in 131 games with Seattle (2020-22), Kansas City (2022), Arizona (2023), Detroit (2023) and the Yankees (2023-2023 years), with 8 appearances and an ERA of 4.67.
