Askume WASHINGTON, Sep 12 – Executives from Open AI, Google and Anthropic will meet senior US officials at the White House on Thursday to discuss the energy and infrastructure needed to advance artificial intelligence, CNN reported, citing a person familiar with the matter.

Representatives from technology companies including Open AI CEO Sam Altman, senior Google executive Ruth Porat and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo are also expected to attend, according to CNN.

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients, National Economic Council Director Lael Brainard and the Biden administration’s top climate official will attend, according to CNN.

Representatives for the White House and Energy Department could not immediately be reached for comment.

“President Biden and Vice President Harris are committed to ensuring that data centers are built in the United States and that technology is developed and responsible leadership is provided to deepen American leadership in artificial intelligence,” White House spokeswoman Robin Patterson said, according to CNN.

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) can generate text, photos and videos based on open-ended prompts. This has sparked discussion about its potential uses, such as making everyday tasks easier, but has also raised concerns about its potential misuse.

This affects the energy and metals industries as well as US technology companiesIt is trying to secure dwindling power supplies for its fast-growing artificial intelligence and cloud computing data centers.
