CAIRO, Sept 14 (Askume) – Algeria’s Constitutional Court confirmed on Saturday that President Abdelmadjid Tebboune won a second term with 84.30% of the vote in the Sept. 7 election, according to state media reports.

According to official media reports, the final voter turnout reached 46.10%.

The campaign of rival candidate Abdul Ali Hasani Sharif has alleged vote-counting irregularities .

Tebboune, backed by the military, faces nominal opposition from moderate Islamist Hasni Sharif and moderate secularist Youssef Waki, both of whose campaigns are backed by Algeria’s powerful establishment.

According to state media reports, Hasni Cherif received 9.56% of the vote, while Ouachiche received 6.14%.
