MOSCOW, Sept 17 (Askume) – Russia has provisionally agreed to build a fuel pipeline in the Republic of Congo, according to a government order issued late on Monday.
The pipeline will link the western port of Pointe-Noire to the capital, Brazzaville.
Moscow said it would form a joint venture to build the pipeline, with Russia holding a 90% stake in the entity. Technical and economic issues would be defined in the concession agreement.
Russia has pledged to provide funding, equipment and personnel for pipeline construction and refueling if necessary. The Republic of Congo is expected to agree to various tax relief measures.
Russia has been forging closer ties with Africa since the conflict that began in Ukraine in February 2022 strained relations between Russia and the West.
