Heavy rains caused by Typhoon Yagi triggered deadly landslides and floods in northern Vietnam, leaving 141 people dead and 59 missing, the disaster management agency said. In addition, it also caused heavy property damage and industrial and commercial losses.

The water level in Hanoi’s Red River was rising at a rate of 10 centimetres per hour, state media reported late Tuesday.

Some schools in Hanoi have told students to stay home for the rest of the week due to flooding concerns, while thousands of residents living in low-lying areas have been evacuated, sources, government and state media reported.
