BENGALURU, Sept 17 (Askume) – A fire broke out at a data centre of India’s largest telecoms operator Reliance Jio on Tuesday, causing disruptions to users across the country, a source with direct knowledge of the matter told Askume.

    Downdetector.com, a website that tracks outages by aggregating status reports from multiple sources including bugs submitted by users on its platform, shows that over 10,000 Jio users have reported the issue.

    The website also revealed that more than half of the affected users faced issues related to mobile network, while others had complaints related to mobile network and broadband.

    A Reliance Jio spokesperson said some users faced problems in the morning due to “minor technical issues”. As of 15:40 IST (10:10 GMT), these issues have been resolved and services have been fully restored.

    Jio had about 489 million subscribers as of the end of June, according to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, ahead of rivals Bharti Airtel’s (BRTI.NS) 281.4 million subscribers and Vodafone Idea ‘s (VODA.NS) 128 million subscribers. It is the No. 1 telecom operator in the world .

    Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea told Askume there were no such outages in their networks.
