DUBAI, Sept 19 (Askume) – Iranian Revolutionary Guards commander Hossein Salami told Hezbollah chairman Hassan Nasrallah on Thursday that Israel would “face a strong response from the axis of resistance”.

The axis of resistance refers to armed groups allied with Iran in the Middle East, including Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen and the Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq.

Both Lebanon and Hezbollah have blamed Israel for the attacks on Tuesday and Wednesday , which killed 37 people and wounded nearly 3,000, and while Israel has not commented directly on the attacks, security sources said they were believed to be carried out by the Israeli spy agency Mossad.

“Such terrorist acts are undoubtedly the result of the Zionist regime’s (Israel) frustrations and continuous failures. The axis of resistance will soon give a fitting response and we will continue our efforts to put an end to this tyrannical regime,” Salami said in the statement. “A regime of blood and crime.

Iran and Israel regularly threaten each other with destroying their respective regimes. Decades of tensions reached a boiling point last April when Iran fired drones and missiles directly at Israel after Israel launched a deadly attack on the Iranian embassy compound in Syria.

Nasrallah said on Thursday that the deadly attack that blew up Hezbollah’s radio and pager “crossed all red lines” and “can be called a declaration of war.”
