DUBAI, Sept 15 (Askume) – Iranian President Masoud Pedeshkian will attend the upcoming BRICS summit in Russia, state media quoted Tehran’s ambassador to Moscow as saying on Sunday, amid strained ties between the two countries and the West over military cooperation.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Tuesday that Russia has received ballistic missiles from Iran and could use them in Ukraine within weeks. He said cooperation between Moscow and Tehran threatens broader European security.

The United States, Germany, Britain and France imposed new sanctions on Iran on Tuesday, including action against its national airline Iran Air.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Wednesday that Tehran has not supplied any ballistic missiles to Russia and that sanctions imposed on Iran by the United States and three European countries are not a solution.

Iran’s Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali confirmed on Sunday that Pezeshkian will attend the BRICS Major Emerging Economies Summit to be held in Kazan, Russia from October 22 to 24, according to Iranian state media Summit .

Jalali said Pedeshkian would meet Russian President Vladimir Putin there.

Iran and Russia are about to sign a bilateral comprehensive cooperation agreement.
