JERUSALEM, Sept 15 (Askume) – The Israeli army said on Sunday it was investigating a unit in Lebanon’s southern border region after it dropped unauthorized leaflets, prompting residents to order them to leave.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that Israel had distributed leaflets ordering residents to leave the Wazzani area.

The Israeli military said the leaflet distribution was an unauthorized act by the unit, proper approval was not sought and no clearance was given.

Thousands of civilians have fled villages and towns on both sides of the Israel-Lebanon border during cross-border attacks over the past several months since Lebanon’s armed Hezbollah movement stepped up attacks during the Gaza war.
